CITIES WE SERVE IN ORANGE COUNTY
ABOUT ORANGE COUNTY
Orange County occupies an interesting middle ground — Chapel Hill and Carrboro are university towns with dense older neighborhoods and a homeowner base that tends to research everything before they call. Hillsborough, the county seat, is smaller, with a mix of historic downtown housing and rural properties stretching west. The county's western half is largely agricultural, and we serve farmhouse and rural residential work there regularly.
The housing stock in Chapel Hill skews older than Wake or Durham — lots of 1950s and '60s construction around the university, with more recent infill on the edges. Carrboro has a similar profile. That age means many homes are on roofs that are overdue; we find owners in this market often knew replacement was coming and were simply waiting for the right contractor.
WHAT ROOF WORK LOOKS LIKE HERE
Orange County's tree canopy is among the densest in the Triangle. Chapel Hill in particular has mature hardwoods over most residential streets, which makes it visually distinctive and practically a liability for roofs. Branch fall after summer squalls is one of the most common calls we get in this market — a limb through a field of shingles that needs assessment, extraction, and either repair or full replacement depending on what the underlying decking looks like.
Wind damage follows the same patterns as Durham — storm systems track northeast, and Orange County gets clipped as they come through. Because the housing stock is older, we find more wear-and-tear amplifying what should be minor storm damage: a hail event that would bounce off newer architectural shingles punches right through aged 3-tab.
Homeowners in Orange County tend to be engaged and ask good questions. We'd rather explain why we're recommending full replacement over a patch job to someone who wants to understand it than rush through a job where no one follows up. That's the kind of work we do best.
