HAIL DAMAGE · NC · VA · MD
Hail impact on asphalt shingles creates a bruise in the fiberglass mat that's invisible from your driveway and invisible to a quick walk-by inspection. We document every impact with a ruler in frame, correlate it with NOAA storm data, write the Xactimate estimate, and meet the adjuster on the roof. Free inspection in NC, VA, and MD.
HOW HAIL DAMAGE WORKS
Understanding the physics of hail impact is how you win the documentation argument with the carrier.
Impact dislodges the embedded granules from the shingle surface, exposing the asphalt mat below to UV degradation. You can see this in the gutters (granule accumulation) and in photos of the strike zone.
The fiberglass reinforcement mat inside the shingle is crushed by the impact, creating a circular fracture. This is what causes the long-term leak — the fractured zone is no longer waterproof. It's invisible from below the shingle and invisible from the ground.
A bruised shingle no longer meets its wind resistance rating. The bond between the tabs is compromised. In the next high-wind event, the damaged shingles are more likely to lift or blow off.
Hail impacts soft metals — gutters, vent caps, HVAC fins, drip edge — leaving dents with a characteristic dome shape. These metal hits are your best photographic evidence of impact because they're unambiguous and easy to photograph.
OUR PROCESS
Pull NOAA storm data for your address and date. Establish the hail event on record before the adjuster arrives.
Drone set: every slope from above. Identifies the pattern of hits across the full roof surface — individual impacts plus density mapping.
Ground-level close-up set: every soft-metal hit (gutters, vents, fins) documented with a ruler in frame. These are your unambiguous proof of hail.
Shingle-level close-ups: circular bruise pattern on the mat, granule displacement at each impact zone, tab adhesive damage.
Xactimate estimate: materials, labor, code upgrades, line-itemed. Written in the format the carrier's adjuster uses.
Supplement letter if needed: every line item the carrier's estimate missed or underpriced, with photo evidence attached.
