INSURANCE CARRIER GUIDE · NC
Farmers homeowner policies show up on NC storm claims with some regularity, particularly in the Triangle and Piedmont markets. Farmers has their own proprietary adjuster processes and, in some cases, their own pricing methodology. Here is what we know from working with their adjusters on roof claims across NC.
ABOUT FARMERS IN NC
Farmers Insurance writes homeowner policies across NC through their agent network, with concentration in the larger metros and their suburban rings.

COMMON ISSUES WE SEE ON FARMERS CLAIMS
These are operational observations — not criticism. Adjusters miss things on every carrier's claims. It is part of why we show up.

HOW WE WORK WITH FARMERS
Farmers claims run the same sequence as every other carrier: free inspection, full documentation, on-roof meeting with the adjuster. We review Farmers' initial estimate line by line, compare it to our field notes, and build a supplement where the scope is short. We file it with full documentation and follow it to a written response. Where Farmers' pricing methodology differs from standard Xactimate, we address those gaps with cost documentation in the supplement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED · FARMERS CLAIMS
Standard Farmers homeowner policies cover storm damage including hail to the roof, subject to your deductible and the loss-settlement terms in your policy. Coverage specifics vary by policy version and any endorsements on your account.
Farmers offers both RCV and ACV policies in NC. Some older Farmers policies settle on ACV once the roof passes a certain age or condition threshold. Your declarations page and loss-settlement section specify which applies to your policy.
Farmers NC homeowner policies typically carry a wind/hail deductible that may differ from the standard all-peril deductible. Check your current declarations page for the specific amount — it may be a percentage of dwelling coverage rather than a flat dollar amount.
Initial inspections typically happen within one to two weeks of filing. Supplement review can add additional time — in our experience, Farmers supplement responses sometimes run longer than initial inspection timelines, particularly during high-volume storm periods.
Farmers uses their own claim management systems that may incorporate Xactimate pricing or Farmers-specific pricing, depending on the claim and region. We build our supplement documentation to address scope gaps and pricing discrepancies regardless of the underlying estimate platform.
