INSURANCE CARRIER GUIDE · NC
If you have a GEICO homeowner policy and storm damage to your roof, the first thing worth knowing is that GEICO does not actually write homeowner insurance themselves. Your home policy is underwritten by a partner carrier — Homepoint, Assurant, or another company depending on when and where you enrolled. GEICO markets the bundle; a separate company holds the policy and handles the claim. Here is what that means in practice for NC homeowners.
ABOUT GEICO IN NC
GEICO is primarily known as an auto insurer, but they market bundled homeowner policies across NC — though the homeowner coverage itself is underwritten by a separate carrier.

COMMON ISSUES WE SEE ON GEICO CLAIMS
These are operational observations — not criticism. Adjusters miss things on every carrier's claims. It is part of why we show up.
BEFORE THE GEICO ADJUSTER ARRIVES
HOW WE WORK WITH GEICO
On GEICO-marketed policy claims, the first thing we do is help the homeowner identify the actual underwriting carrier from the declarations page. Once we know who is actually running the claim, we handle it exactly the same way we handle any other carrier — free inspection, full photo documentation, on-roof meeting with the adjuster, line-by-line scope review, and a written supplement where needed. The claim process is the same regardless of which carrier is behind the policy; the path to the right claims office is just a step we help sort out at the start.

FREQUENTLY ASKED · GEICO CLAIMS
GEICO's homeowner policies are actually underwritten by partner carriers — Assurant, Homepoint, or others. The coverage on your roof depends on the policy your underwriting carrier issued, not GEICO directly. Read your declarations page to find out who the underwriter is and what your loss-settlement terms say.
The underwriting carrier on your dec page handles the claim — not GEICO's claims team. If your policy was bundled through GEICO, call the claims number for the home underwriter directly, or call us first and we will help you identify who to contact.
It depends on the underwriting carrier and the specific policy terms. Your loss-settlement section will specify. Some GEICO partner carriers use age-based ACV conversion schedules on roofs. We read those clauses on every claim.
The wind/hail deductible is set by the underwriting carrier, not by GEICO. It will be listed on your declarations page. In NC, percentage-based wind/hail deductibles — typically one or two percent of dwelling coverage — are increasingly common on home policies.
Yes. Regardless of which carrier underwrites your GEICO home policy, you have the right to choose your own licensed NC roofing contractor. No carrier can require you to use a specific contractor.
