CERTIFICATIONS
GAF Master Elite is the top contractor certification from GAF, the largest shingle manufacturer in North America. Master Elite contractors must hold the right state license, carry full insurance, and meet GAF’s standards for installation quality. The certification is held by a small percentage of US roofers.
HOW IT SHOWS UP IN NC ROOFING
Master Elite is a meaningful certification, not a marketing badge. To carry it, a contractor has to maintain a state license in good standing, carry liability and workers-comp coverage above a threshold, train installers on the GAF system, and remain in good standing on warranty claims. GAF audits and pulls the badge from contractors who slip.
For an NC homeowner the Master Elite badge unlocks the GAF Golden Pledge warranty — a 50-year non-prorated coverage on materials and a 25-year coverage on workmanship that GAF will honor even if the contractor is out of business. That is the only realistic way to get a real long-term warranty on a roof. It also means the installer has been trained on the full GAF system, which matters for nail-pattern discipline and ventilation.
