Platinum Preferred is a small portion of the Owens Corning contractor network nationwide. The certification turns over: contractors who slip on customer-satisfaction scores or fall behind on training lose the badge. For a homeowner buying a Duration shingle (Owens Corning’s mainstream architectural product), the certified-installer requirement is what makes the long warranty real.

Platinum Protection is non-prorated for 50 years on materials and includes a tear-off-and-replacement workmanship coverage that other warranties do not. As with any system warranty, it requires the full Owens Corning system — underlayment, starter, ridge cap, and ventilation accessories, not just the shingle.
