INSURANCE CARRIER GUIDE · NC
Nationwide homeowner policies show up regularly on NC storm claims — across Wake, Johnston, Nash, and the surrounding counties. Their marketing line is "On Your Side," and in our experience their claims process is generally organized and traceable. Here is what we know from working their claims in NC.
ABOUT NATIONWIDE IN NC

COMMON ISSUES WE SEE ON NATIONWIDE CLAIMS
These are operational observations — not criticism. Adjusters miss things on every carrier's claims. It is part of why we show up.
BEFORE THE NATIONWIDE ADJUSTER ARRIVES
HOW WE WORK WITH NATIONWIDE
Nationwide claims run the same way as every other carrier we work with: free inspection, full documentation, on-roof meeting with the adjuster. We check the policy for the "Better Roof Replacement" endorsement first — if you have it, the code-upgrade conversation with the adjuster changes. After the initial estimate, we build a supplement for any line items the scope missed, attach photos and code references, and file with Nationwide's claims office. We follow up in writing until we have a written response.

FREQUENTLY ASKED · NATIONWIDE CLAIMS
Most standard Nationwide homeowner policies cover hail damage to the roof. The specific settlement basis — RCV or ACV — and any deductible structures depend on your policy version. Send us your declarations page before the inspection and we will tell you what to expect.
Better Roof Replacement is an endorsement on some Nationwide policies that allows you to replace your roof with stronger materials than what was originally installed — and covers the cost of bringing the installation up to current building code. If you have it, code-required items like ice-and-water shield and drip edge should be covered without supplementing.
Standard Nationwide policies typically pay RCV, but some policy versions include ACV conversion clauses once a roof passes a certain age. Your loss-settlement section specifies which applies. We read it on every claim.
In our experience, straightforward Nationwide claims without supplement disputes resolve in four to eight weeks from initial filing. Supplement review typically adds two to four weeks depending on documentation completeness and claim volume in the region.
Nationwide's standard homeowner policies generally cover functional hail damage. Cosmetic-only damage — surface appearance without structural or waterproofing impact — may be subject to endorsement language depending on your policy version. Check the policy for any cosmetic exclusion endorsement.
